What is involved in the application process for a dual study programme at Tchibo?
After your online application is successful, you will first be invited to a video interview. Depending on your course of study, this is followed by a day long visit to our Tchibo Assessment Centre along with other applicants or a second interview with the department. We are looking forward to getting to know you!
What should go in my CV?
It is important that your CV is well-structured and fully reflects your experience. What was your school career like? What internships have you already completed? Have you been abroad or involved in voluntary work outside of school? We would also like to know something about your personality. You can be creative with your CV, but please mention your hobbies or favourite subjects and tell us about your projects. First and foremost, make it possible for us to understand what motivates you to pursue your chosen field.
Do I need a cover letter for my Tchibo application?
No. You do not need a cover letter to apply for a dual study programme with us. Instead, we will ask you some questions about your motivation during the application process. This gives you the chance to describe your qualities and motivations for your dual study programme at Tchibo. Of course, we are particularly interested in your motivation for your chosen field of study and career.
What certificates and documents should accompany my application?
Your application should primarily include your most recent school report (final report or the last two half-year reports) and references from any internships you have completed. If you have also obtained additional qualifications or certificates, you are welcome to attach copies of these to your application. If you have already completed an apprenticeship or a course of study, the respective certificates and performance overviews are required. If you are applying for a dual study programme in cooperation with the Nordakademie, we also need the certificate of your successfully completed placement test. In the university's portal, you can authorize us to view your test results or you can upload the results together with your other documents.
Can I send my documents to an e-mail address instead?
No. Please apply exclusively via our online portal for the position that interests you. This is the fastest way for us to view and evaluate your documents. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the person listed for your desired position.
How long does the application process take?
The duration of the application process may vary, depending on the position applied for and the number of applicants we receive. However, we will do our best to provide you with feedback on the status of your application as quickly as possible and will keep you informed about the process at all times.
Can I still edit my applicant profile after I have submitted my application?
Unfortunately, once posted you are not able to revise your application itself. However, you can update the personal data in your Tchibo applicant profile and upload new documents. These would be included if you make a further application. However, if you urgently need to change something in your submitted application or if you have forgotten an important document, please send us an e-mail to Recruiting@tchibo.de, stating the job title and your full name.
When do I have to apply for a dual study programme at Tchibo?
The application start date for all dual degree programs is usually about 1 year before the start, usually in August or September.
I don’t speak German, does it make sense for me to apply?
German is our company language and there are only a few teams that (exclusively) speak English. Therefore, we only consider applicants with German language skills at level B2 or higher, unless otherwise stated in the job advertisement. If German is not your native language, please attach a certificate of German proficiency with your application.
Do I need a specific qualification for a dual study programme with Tchibo?

What kind of supervision is given during my dual study programme?
Our colleague Julia Gerlach will look after you during your dual study programme at the Tchibo headquarters in Hamburg. In addition, you will be assigned a specialist contact person for each practical station, who will accompany and support you. Of course, you are also free to contact your team leaders at any time.
Are there regular evaluation meetings during the dual study programme?
Yes. Feedback meetings are held on a regular basis. During your dual study programme at our company headquarters, you will have a feedback meeting after each departmental assignment, usually every four to twelve weeks, depending on the length of your assignment in each department.
Is it possible to complete part of the dual study programme abroad?
Yes! During your dual study programme at Tchibo, you have the opportunity to spend one semester abroad and we will also support this financially.
What other training opportunities does Tchibo offer? What is a typical career path?
We offer you various seminars for further training. At the Tchibo headquarters in Hamburg, for example, you can take part in workshops and seminars on project management, IT, presentation, communication and corporate responsibility. After successfully completing the dual study programme, many of our talented students subsequently take up junior positions in the company.
What are the chances of being offered a job at Tchibo after completing my dual studies?
The chances of being taken on after your dual studies are very high! It is always very important to us to inspire young talent for the long term.
How much am I paid during a dual study programme?
The payment during a dual study programme is as follows:
1st year: 1,050 euros per month
2nd year: 1,200 euros per month
3rd year: 1,450 euros per month
4th year: 1,750 euros per month
Do any special benefits apply during my training, such as a travel allowance?
During your dual studies at our company headquarters, you have the advantage of being able to use both our staff restaurant and our in-house leisure centre. In the restaurant you also get a discount of 30 percent! The leisure centre can be used for only five euros per month. In addition, you will also receive a subsidy for an HVV travel pass. You can also look forward to an employee discount on all Tchibo products and one kilogramme of coffee per month.
Can I do an internship to gain some career orientation at Tchibo?
You are welcome to get a taste of the work our teams do in our stores, as part of an official student internship. However, we do not offer student internships or career orientation at the Tchibo headquarters in Hamburg.

At the Tchibo headquarters in Hamburg, for example, you can take part in workshops on project management, IT, presentation, communication or corporate responsibility. As a trainee in a store, there are also exciting opportunities for further training. A sales seminar or a basic commercial seminar will certainly help you to hit the ground running in your day-to-day work.
After a successful apprenticeship with us, there are a wide variety of career paths. After a commercial apprenticeship, some go on to start the trainee programme to become a store manager and subsequently take over their own store. At the company headquarters, many also opt for direct entry to their respective specialist area.
What are the chances of being offered a job at Tchibo after completing my apprenticeship?
The chances of being taken on after your apprenticeship are extremely high! It is always important to us that we inspire our trainees for the long term.
How much am I paid during my apprenticeship?
During industrial and commercial apprenticeships at the Tchibo headquarters in Hamburg, you will receive the following salary:
1st year: €925
2nd year: € 1,025
3rd year: €1,125
Commercial apprenticeships take longer and are paid €1,225 in the 4th year.
As an apprentice in our stores, you will receive between €700 and €1,200 per month, depending on the year of your apprenticeship and location.
