Who has never heard of Tchibo? Our long tradition as a Hamburg-based trading company has made us what we are today. We are a family business and at the same time one of the most successful multichannel retailers in Germany. With the courage to reinvent ourselves again and again, we have already moved on a lot, but we still have more to do. Here you can find out about the strong corporate values that guide us.

We know who we are

A lot has happened since Max Herz and Carl Tchilling-Hiryan revolutionised the German coffee market with their simple but ingenious business idea in 1949. Today, our passion is no longer just for coffee, but a wide variety of services and weekly changing non-food products. But some things will never change: we love coffee! And we love to inspire our customers again and again.

In line with our corporate principles, we focus on quality as well as responsibility for our employees, our society and the environment. At Tchibo, honesty, fairness and transparency are just as important as open communication and sincere cooperation. Our corporate values are our constant. They are our compass - and make our Tchibo family so special.

Even though our company was founded more than half a century ago: At Tchibo, we have never lost our pioneering spirit. Flexibility and ingenuity are two of our great strengths. That's why we don't see the environmental influences, changing buying habits and novel demands of our customers as challenges, rather as opportunities to continue growing as a company. The hands-on mentality, which is typically Hanseatic, provides us with the ideal foundation for our future success.

To become a completely sustainable business is an ambitious goal, but we accept the challenge! In line with our corporate values, we want to be part of a movement that is tackling the problems of our time. And not just with empty words: sustainability has been an integral part of Tchibo's business strategy since 2006. We are actively committed to manufacturing our products fairly - with respect for our environment and for the people we work with. This is one of the reasons why we are already the third largest buyer of organic cotton in the world.
